Verified accounts can still scam
A verified Microsoft X account was recently hacked and used in a cryptocurrency scam involving the promotion of a $Clippy token, misleading followers with fake posts and an apology. Microsoft confirmed unauthorized access, removed the posts, and is investigating. The incident highlights how compromised trusted accounts can easily deceive users and facilitate scams, especially when attackers exploit the credibility of verified profiles to push malicious links and fake investment schemes.
