L.A. Homeless Agency Meeting Canceled Amid Voter Surge
A Los Angeles meeting to determine control over homelessness services was canceled after over 1,500 participants overwhelmed its limited Zoom capacity, leading to a postponement. Mayor Karen Bass organized the effort to oppose the recommendation that Los Angeles County assume responsibility for key homeless functions, highlighting ongoing disputes over regional management of homelessness programs. The cancellation underscores tensions surrounding federal efforts to suspend LAHSA and transfer its duties to the county-controlled Continuum of Care, amid concerns about stakeholder engagement and decision-making transparency.
