Pope comments on death penalty amid U S livestream plans
The Pope condemned the death penalty as "inadmissible" amid controversy over the U.S. plans to livestream the execution of Nidal Malik Hasan, convicted of the 2009 Fort Hood shooting. The announcement of the livestream, along with a recent botched execution in Tennessee, has sparked bipartisan criticism and raised questions about the practice of publicly broadcasting executions. The Pope's opposition reflects longstanding Catholic teachings that human life is sacred from conception to natural death.
