Ithaca halts Cornell event permits amid abuse concerns
The Ithaca city council approved a temporary moratorium on permits for Cornell University and affiliated student groups, including fraternities, in response to recent rape allegations involving a former student. The measure, supported by most council members, aims to limit events and activities on campus until November 5 to address public safety concerns stemming from the allegations and the university's handling thereof. The case involves a lawsuit against fraternity members accused of drugging and raping a student, leading to protests and calls for accountability at Cornell.
