Transgender woman deported to Central Africa hides anew
Daniela Fuentes, a transgender woman from Cuba, was deported from the United States to the Central African Republic, where she faces significant challenges due to her gender identity and lack of support. She is living in a detention-like compound, hiding her gender expression and awaiting travel documents, after being sent to a country with little legal protection for LGBTQ+ individuals. The U.S. has deported thousands to third countries, including African nations, often without clear legal pathways, with reports of abuse and detention conditions for deportees.
