Hegseth awards USS Lincoln before departure
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth awarded the USS Abraham Lincoln crew the Presidential Unit Citation for their “40 days of combat operations and an ironclad maritime blockade against Iran” during a record-long deployment supporting Operation Epic Fury. The carrier experienced 265 days at sea, facing supply shortages and mental health challenges, with the deployment ending after a stop in Thailand. Hegseth praised the crew’s resilience amid issues reported earlier in the deployment, highlighting their successful execution of thousands of combat missions against Iran.
