Talarico defends 2020 police remarks
The article reports on Texas Democratic Senate nominee James Talarico's efforts to clarify his stance regarding law enforcement and the "defund the police" movement. A resurfaced video from 2020 shows Talarico criticizing the movement's rhetoric during protests, but his campaign insists he does not support defunding police and emphasizes his record of voting for increased funding for law enforcement and mental health resources. Talarico's remarks were taken out of context, according to his campaign, which maintains he advocates for adequate funding of public safety agencies.
