Feds charge OC agent with China ties
Wanying “Heather” Zhang, an Irvine-based real estate agent, was arrested at LAX and charged with acting as an unregistered foreign agent for China. Authorities allege she surveilled the Taiwanese president’s son and his family in the U.S., including in Seattle, while relaying information to Chinese officials. The investigation links Zhang’s activities to Chinese efforts to monitor Taiwan’s high-ranking officials and their relatives, reflecting broader concerns over Chinese espionage operations.
