AI influencer joins Alabama RushTok

Olivia Moore, an investment partner at Andreessen Horowitz, used AI to create a fake college influencer named Janie to study consumer reactions to AI-generated content. Janie, who appeared to participate in Alabama sorority rush videos, was entirely AI-generated using tools like ChatGPT and MiniMax, and she gained significant online attention before viewers recognized her synthetic nature. Moore's experiment demonstrated that while many can detect AI content, interest persists as long as the content is entertaining, raising questions about AI’s role in media and the potential for more realistic AI-driven personas in the future.
