California Prop 4 Voter Guide on Public Funding
Proposition 4 in California would repeal a 1988 ban on public campaign financing, allowing state and local governments to establish funding programs for candidates. Supported by organizations like California Clean Money Campaign and the ACLU, the measure aims to reduce campaign costs and increase candidate diversity, while opponents like the California Taxpayers Association oppose it. The proposition was placed on the ballot by Governor Gavin Newsom and the state Legislature.
