Extended fall heat wave through mid-October
An extended heat wave is expected to hit Southern California, with an extreme heat watch in effect from Friday through October 8, possibly lasting longer. The peak temperatures may reach the triple digits in Los Angeles and Ventura counties, while inland areas could see temperatures over 100 degrees. The heat wave is driven by high pressure and low wind, with lower humidity than summer averages, and could continue into mid-October. Officials advise staying hydrated, avoiding heat exposure, and never leaving children or pets in parked vehicles.
