GOP senator sues over phone-record seizure
A Republican senator has filed a lawsuit against former Special Counsel Jack Smith, asserting that Smith lacked lawful authority when subpoenaing her phone records during his investigation into President Trump. The lawsuit, seeking to declare Smith's appointment unconstitutional and to destroy the records, focuses on alleged violations of constitutional rights and questions the legality of Smith’s powers, which were not authorized by law or confirmed by the Senate. The case is part of broader scrutiny of Smith’s investigation tactics and authority.
