Newsom prevents other states' Guard from California
California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a bill banning military personnel from other states from deploying National Guard troops in California without permission, citing concerns about potential federal troop deployment during upcoming elections. The legislation prohibits external military presence unless authorized by the governor, aiming to prevent interference at polling stations. This move follows previous federal troop deployments ordered by former President Trump, which were later blocked by a federal court.
