Measles patient traveled on Amtrak in California
Public health officials have issued warnings after an unvaccinated Amtrak passenger traveling across the U.S. with measles stopped at Union Station last weekend and was hospitalized. The individual traveled through multiple California counties from September 10 to 12 and arrived in Denver afterward. The CDC reports a surge in measles cases nationwide, with California experiencing 59 cases this year, mostly among unvaccinated individuals, prompting calls for vaccination to prevent further spread.
