Egypt objects to the Libyan House of Representatives' ratification of the maritime memorandum of understanding with Turkey, emphasizing that ratification does not entail any legal effects for it. It clarified that the memorandum infringes on Egypt's sovereign rights in its exclusive economic zone and continental shelf, and that it is legally invalid. This comes after the eastern Libyan House of Representatives fully approved the agreement, a move seen as part of regional disputes over maritime sovereignty in the Mediterranean. Meanwhile, Greece and Israel reject the agreement, considering it a violation of international law. Turkey and Libya, however, assert that the agreements reflect their sovereign will, bolster their relations, and enhance their interests in the region.
