Al-Hajri confronts Damascus in fierce clash
The article addresses the ongoing tensions between Damascus and the local government in Swaida, where National Guard forces prevented a UN delegation from entering the province due to a lack of coordination. Calls have been made for dialogue to contain the clashes that have been ongoing for a year. The discussions included criticisms of the authorities' discriminatory approach in handling humanitarian aid and the worsening divisions among different communities within Syrian society. The report also highlighted continued field tensions and the possibility of increased isolation for Swaida, along with concerns over potential Israeli escalation in southern Syria. Syria is attempting to strengthen its international relationships and ease sanctions, while the region faces two possible scenarios: either military escalation or diplomatic efforts to curb Israeli influence.
