Trabzonspor president suspended over betting
The Turkish Football Federation announced the suspension of Trabzonspor club president, Ertuğrul Doğan, for 45 days due to a betting case that has been referred to the Disciplinary Council. The decision also included a suspension of 147 officials from various clubs, while 301 officials were excluded from sanctions after investigations into their betting practices over the past five years. Doğan responded to the accusations, confirming that he had closed his betting account after the investigation began, but he denied any wrongdoing. The sanctions varied among the major clubs; some individuals received penalties, while no measures were taken against officials at certain clubs such as Beşiktaş, Fenerbahçe, and Galatasaray, raising questions about the application of standards and the impact on the reputation of Turkish football.
