Walid Jumblatt Warns of Israeli Plan
Walid Jumblat's statements highlighted the dangers of escalation between Lebanon and Israel, warning of Lebanon slipping into a new war that could lead the region down destructive paths. He confirmed that Israel is seeking to change the demographic reality of the south and to destroy its landmarks, cautioning that the fate of the south could become similar to Gaza's, despite the Israeli military withdrawal, due to widespread destruction. Jumblat sent a clear message to Hezbollah, urging them not to drag the country into a new confrontation with Israel, warning of the heavy losses that such involvement could entail. He also pointed out that Israel, in coordination with the United States, is setting conditions for removing its presence from the south, emphasizing that the area is socially and demographically diverse and must not be subjected to reckless pursuits of peace, warning against continued war and destruction.
