French PM: Curfew Maintains Calm

The French government imposed a nightly curfew in Paris and other cities to control the riots and violence that have swept the country. These disturbances followed widespread protests against rising living costs and poor conditions in schools. Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu confirmed that these measures have helped maintain peace during the night, with additional actions expected in areas that require further intervention. The measures included bans on entry and gatherings in locations such as Place de la République and Le Havre, as well as curfews for minors in cities like Lille, Nice, and Marseille. Approximately 2,400 people have been arrested so far, and over 3,000 businesses have been damaged or robbed. These steps come amid ongoing security challenges, with President Macron refusing to resign despite the widespread violence and looting incidents across the country.
