UN Security Council urges end to child recruitment
To summarize the key points, the United Nations Security Council unanimously adopted Resolution 2832, condemning the recruitment and use of children through digital technology and social media platforms, and calling for their immediate cessation along with protective measures for children. This resolution emphasizes strengthening protective actions in line with international law to prevent abuse of children—including forced enlistment, kidnapping, and sexual violence—during armed conflicts facilitated by electronic means. Additionally, it urges the UN Secretary-General, UNICEF, and other relevant agencies to enhance cooperation in gathering information about digital risks and promoting children's safety. The resolution particularly highlights that girls are especially vulnerable to violence resulting from digital technology use.
