Netanyahu's Buffer Zones and Egypt Pact

The article discusses Israeli statements and measures regarding the establishment of buffer zones and security barriers along its border with Egypt, in the context of the ongoing military and security escalation ahead of the current Knesset elections. Security experts confirm that these movements do not violate the 1979 peace treaty with Egypt, as long as they do not affect its borders or breach the terms of the agreement, and are considered legitimate security measures to face threats, especially amid increasing regional tensions. Egyptian officials and experts, however, express their rejection of these steps, viewing them as a blatant violation of the treaty. Cairo is prepared to consider all scenarios to confront any Israeli escalation, while emphasizing the presence of international and American oversight to safeguard Egypt's sovereignty.
