Beirut Seeks Practical Arab Support

The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Nabil Fahmy, emphasized that supporting Lebanon requires translating positions into concrete and financial steps that help its institutions face current challenges. This statement was made in the context of welcoming Lebanese officials and reaffirming commitment to a diplomatic solution and reconstruction efforts. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun stressed that Israel has not adhered to the framework agreement, and that Israeli violations in the south do not lead to productive outcomes. He also reaffirmed that a diplomatic solution is less costly than war and aims to restore stability in Lebanon. Fahmy explained that his visit follows a decision by the Arab Foreign Ministers Council to provide tangible support to Lebanon, which includes diplomatic and financial cooperation. Additionally, they discussed the importance of the ongoing UNIFIL mission to ensure border security, with a focus on strengthening Arab support to help Lebanon regain its sovereignty and undertake reconstruction, particularly in the south, amid potential regional tensions.
