Turkey fund crisis topples regulator
Turkey intends to address the investment fund crisis that has affected hundreds of thousands of investors, following potential manipulation of some stock prices which led to significant losses and pressure on funds totaling $20 billion, owned by half a million investors. As part of this effort, the head of the Capital Markets Regulatory Authority resigned due to health reasons. A new council has been established, led by the Vice President, to oversee the liquidation of troubled funds and protect investors' rights. Additionally, there will be audits of fund transactions and measures implemented to enhance oversight and prevent the recurrence of the crisis.
