Gaza's amputated children share pain
Many children in Gaza suffer from the loss of limbs and severe injuries as a result of the ongoing war. Over 900 children have been transferred to Jordan to receive treatment at specialized hospitals, as part of the "Jordan Medical Corridor" initiative, which aims to provide care for 2,000 children. Some children, like Mahmoud Abu Nseer, were wounded by gunfire that shattered their dreams of playing football, forcing them to undergo amputations to recover from their serious injuries. They also face significant psychological suffering after losing their limbs. Their cases often require the fitting of prosthetic limbs, and many undergo life-saving surgeries with repeated amputations due to the conditions of blockades and life-threatening infections. Support and healthcare organizations in Jordan provide prosthetic fitting and psychological treatment to help these children recover and regain their motor skills and mental well-being after the tragedies they endured during the war.
