The Canadian province of Alberta is witnessing a decisive vote on secession from Canada, as supporters of independence organize rallies urging residents to vote in favor of separation, amid concerns over strained relations with the United States and the European Union. Alberta Premier Danielle Smith has called for a non-binding referendum aimed at allowing residents to express their wishes, emphasizing that if the vote favors secession, legal procedures will be initiated. Polls indicate that about a quarter of the population, approximately 5 million people, support separation, making the referendum an opportunity to test the political and economic tensions between the province and the federal government.
