Taiz Conflict and Its Strategic Role

The city of Taiz in Yemen is witnessing fierce fighting between the government forces supported by Saudi Arabia and the Houthi movement allied with Iran. The Houthis control strategic areas within the city, and analysts believe that gaining control over Taiz holds significant strategic and symbolic importance. Taiz is a vital connecting point between the coast and southern Yemen. The Houthi advances in the area have led to the closure of the city's entrances, accompanied by severe shortages of food, medicine, and fuel for the residents, amid serious risks of the fighting reaching the city center. Securing Taiz is considered a critical objective in the Yemen conflict, pitting it directly against the Houthis and significantly impacting the course of the war and humanitarian aid efforts.
