China's imports rise over 20% for seventh month

China's imports recorded a 22.3% year-over-year increase during the first three months of 2026, reflecting a stable economic performance and a shift in consumption patterns toward higher-quality products. This came after import values surpassed two trillion yuan for the first time in September, marking over seven months of continuous growth, with increased demand for intermediate products and raw materials, including mineral ores and oil. Additionally, the customs duty exemption policy on imports from African countries contributed to boosting trade, as China's imports from these nations grew by 15.3%, benefiting companies such as Egyptian strawberry importers from significant tariff reductions.
