A advisor to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expects that the presidential and parliamentary elections in Turkey will be held early in March or April 2028, before the scheduled date in May. This would allow Erdoğan to run for office again despite his constitutional term limits. This comes after the 2017 constitutional amendment, which permitted him to be re-elected for two additional terms. The decision to hold early elections depends on the approval of a majority in parliament, requiring 360 out of 600 votes, and the Justice and Development Party (AKP) and its allies currently hold 331 seats.
