Lebanon revokes Iran's Export Bank license

The article explains that Banque du Liban (the Lebanese Central Bank) has revoked the license of Export Iran Bank, one of Iran's oldest banks abroad, in order to protect the Lebanese banking sector from risks associated with U.S. sanctions and the Iranian financial system. This decision comes amid escalating American pressure on Iran's financial system and regional countries' measures, viewed as steps to improve Lebanon's financial reputation and reduce exposure to legal and economic risks. The move aims to avoid sanctions-related risks, especially after repeated U.S. calls to close the Lebanese branch of the bank. It reflects Lebanon’s keenness to safeguard its economy and work toward reforming its financial system, while also striving to revive its economy through talks with the International Monetary Fund.
