Egyptian visit controversy in Israel
The article discusses Egyptian Intelligence Chief Abbas Kamel's visit to Israel prior to the October 7, 2023 attack. Netanyahu acknowledged the visit but denied meeting with an Israeli official during the trip, despite records showing his meeting with the Egyptian intelligence chief in 2021. Netanyahu's statements have raised suspicions in Israel regarding his awareness of communications and intelligence activities ahead of the attack, especially amidst growing debate about potential coordination or prior warnings from Egypt or Israel. These developments come amid accusations of intelligence failures and investigations into whether crucial information was withheld before the attack, which is affecting Egyptian-Israeli relations and increasing regional tensions.
