U.S. authorities seize Ilhan Omar's phone
The U.S. federal authorities have taken action against Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar, seizing her phone and summoning some of her relatives as part of an investigation into her immigration papers. They raided her home in Washington a few weeks before the midterm elections, aiming to determine whether she committed any violations related to her father's immigration documentation when she entered the United States. This occurred amid criticism from the Democratic Party, which viewed it as a political targeting given the sensitive timing. The investigations continue, including inquiries into financial disclosures, while Omar has defended the measures, describing them as an attempt at political targeting.
