Hamburg Trial Starts for Ukrainian Over Nord Stream Blast
The trial of a former Ukrainian officer accused of planning to blow up the Nord Stream pipeline, one of the largest infrastructure sabotage operations in modern history, which took place in September 2022, has been transferred. It is believed that the defendant, Sergey Koznetsov, acted in collusion with members of the Ukrainian military based on communications with undisclosed government entities. Koznetsov has denied any involvement in the explosion, and his lawyers clarified that his records are classified under Ukrainian state secrets and that he has a legal status preventing him from divulging information. The trial is ongoing until February 2027 and has raised political repercussions, with accusations from Russia and German parties regarding the targets and damages, while Ukraine denies any responsibility.
