Experts accuse FAO of staff intimidation over Gaza

The article focused on the criticisms directed at the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) for intimidating its staff who oppose human rights issues, particularly regarding Gaza and hunger there. This includes the removal of officials, such as Benjamin Davis, due to their efforts in documenting hunger and famine violations, while the organization’s management downplays the significance of these issues and threatens neutrality. Experts confirmed that the organization's treatment of its employees in this manner creates an atmosphere of fear and hampers the documentation of violations. They called for respecting human rights principles and ensuring the protection of staff from retaliation, especially in the context of the organization’s work in protecting the poor and ensuring access to humanitarian aid.
