Iran expels British envoy over airbase event

Iran summoned the British ambassador in Tehran in response to London's unfounded accusations of Iran's involvement in a plot to target a British airbase, following British Prime Minister Andrew Burnham's statements suggesting that Iran might be connected to last month's incident at Fairford Base. Iran expressed strong protest against what it described as the "irresponsible and destructive" British approach, rejecting the allegations and reaffirming that such claims do not exempt London from its responsibilities for its participation in the US-Israeli military aggression against Iran and its support for terrorist groups hostile to the country. Iran demanded that London provide evidence as soon as possible; otherwise, it will reassess its relations with the United Kingdom. This came after the British police detained five individuals on charges related to explosives and terrorism near Fairford airbase, which the United States has used to carry out strikes against Iran. They were later released on bail.
