IMF Revises Egypt Growth Outlook

The International Monetary Fund has raised its forecast for Egypt's economic growth to 5.1% for the fiscal year 2025-2026, compared to 4.4% in the previous year, due to the recovery in Suez Canal and energy revenues, amid ongoing regional challenges that could impact growth. The report projects that gross domestic product will reach 4.7% in the fiscal year 2026-2027, with inflation continuing to rise to around 14.8%, driven by increases in fuel and electricity prices, despite the Central Bank's efforts to curb inflationary pressures. The Egyptian economy remains capable of absorbing shocks, thanks to rising foreign reserves, but regional tensions, especially in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait area, could hinder growth in the future.
