Details on Egyptians killed in Khartoum and Sudanese miners' bombing

Khartoum witnessed the killing of two Egyptians by armed men during a shooting incident targeting a local market south of the city. Additionally, dozens of Sudanese gold miners were killed in airstrikes on a gold mine on the border with Egypt. The suspect has been apprehended, and Sudanese authorities are conducting investigations, while Egypt is in contact with Khartoum to investigate the incident. The area also experienced aerial bombardments targeting the gold mine on October 10, 2026, resulting in the death of at least 72 Sudanese civilians, according to human rights and Sudanese sources. These attacks have been blamed on Egypt. Historically tense border issues persist, particularly around the "Halaib Triangle," along with conflicts over natural resources—especially gold, which has become a primary source of funding for the ongoing conflict in Sudan since the outbreak of war in April 2023.
