NASA rover approaches Mars life clues

NASA announced that the Perseverance rover on Mars has traveled a record-breaking distance of 28.1 miles (45.2 kilometers) since its arrival in 2021, surpassing the previous record and achieving the greatest distance of any exploration vehicle outside Earth. This milestone comes five and a half years after the start of its mission, which aims to explore the potential conditions for ancient microbial life on the planet, especially in the Jezero Crater, believed to have been filled with water and covered by a lake basin. NASA confirmed that all of the rover's systems are still in excellent condition and prepared to continue its mission into the 2030s, with the possibility of extending beyond. This record-breaking distance is a historic achievement that equals or surpasses the traversed distances of other vehicles on the Moon's surface.
