Iranian entertainment industry film at London Festival
The film "The Friend's House Is Here" is a secret cinematic work shot in Tehran that reflects the lives of young Iranian artists living under oppressive conditions due to war and government pressures. The story revolves around two close friends, Pari and Hana, who belong to a group of artists continuing their creative work secretly, away from censorship, including performances of plays banned by authorities. The film was produced under challenging circumstances, including bombing and internet blockades, and serves as a love letter to Iranian youth who persist in their creativity despite these hardships. The film won the Jury Prize at the Sundance Festival in 2026 and aims to showcase the resilience and resistance of Iranian artists against political and economic pressures.
