Saudi and Iran Foreign Ministers Talk

The escalation by the Houthi group in Yemen against Saudi Arabia, particularly their attacks on Saudi airports including King Khalid Airport in Riyadh, has raised concerns about increasing tensions in the region. The group announced that it carried out four specialized operations within 24 hours, resulting in the deaths of 13 people, including civilians from different nationalities, in addition to hundreds of injuries. In response, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan discussed the escalation developments with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araqchi. The two sides emphasized the need for political solutions and non-recourse to military action, with Iran expressing its readiness to assist in initiating dialogue between Saudi Arabia and Yemen. This escalation occurs amid worsening security conditions, with the Houthis threatening to use Saudi airspace—excluding the holy sites—while the Yemeni government announced its recognition of the Houthi group as a terrorist organization.
