Trump's admin probes five networks for anti-trust
The investigation conducted by the U.S. Department of Justice is focusing on whether the five major news networks (ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox News, NBC) have violated antitrust laws by boycotting coverage of President Trump, particularly through the joint coverage arrangements that organize coverage of White House events. This investigation comes after Trump barred CNN from entering the White House and disrupted the operations of the rotating media pool that covers the presidency, leading to lawsuits filed by CNN and two other media organizations. The investigation is seen as part of a broader campaign by the Trump administration against the media and is viewed as targeting government restrictions on press coverage and freedom of expression.
