Faydān: The "Mecca Pact" Is a Defensive Treaty

The "Mecca Pact" agreement is a defensive treaty signed by Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan to strengthen the security of the three nations through collective defense and deterrence. The procedures for its referral to the Turkish Parliament for ratification have been completed, aiming to establish a unified defensive framework focused on regional stability, which includes the formation of an institutional structure comprising security offices and joint forces. The agreement, approved during high-level meetings in Istanbul and Riyadh, addresses ways to resist attacks on Saudi Arabia, particularly from the Houthis, and facilitates military cooperation among the three countries. It emphasizes regional security without involving the deployment of Turkish troops into other territories or conducting external attacks. Additionally, the Turkish Foreign Minister confirmed that the goal is to enhance regional defense and deterrence while avoiding escalation of conflicts in the Black Sea or elsewhere, and to stay committed to initiatives based on dialogue and peace.
