Israel: British Consulate in Jerusalem to close

Israel announced that the British consulate in East Jerusalem has been closed by order of the Israeli government, and that the British ambassador and 19 other diplomats will leave the country. This move is in response to British measures against Israel, which include sanctions on settlements and restrictions on defense exports. The Israeli Foreign Minister confirmed that the building will no longer function as a consulate, and only seven diplomats will be allowed to continue working from the premises with limited authority. This action comes as part of a series of diplomatic escalations between the two countries.
