Japan urges China to respect Takayuki
Japan called on China to show "appropriate respect" after a Chinese spokesperson referred to Prime Minister Takaichi Sanai only by her name, without mentioning her position, in violation of diplomatic protocol. This escalation comes amid heightened tensions between the two countries, especially after Takaichi's statement last year suggesting Japan might intervene if China attacked Taiwan. Nonetheless, efforts have been made to ease the tensions through parliamentary visits from Japan to China. Previously, the Chinese spokesperson also used only her name when discussing nuclear weapons and submarines, further escalating diplomatic tensions.
