Egypt fossil uncovers new crocodile genus

A new genus of crocodiles, known as "Herujavialis," has been discovered in Egypt, dating back 45 million years to the Maktum geological formation, which preserves marine fossils from prehistoric eras. This crocodile is considered to be of the long, slender-snouted type, and it likely hunted fish with its pointed teeth. This discovery enhances our understanding of the diversity and evolutionary history of crocodile species in the region, showing that this genus lived in shallow marine environments before the construction of the pyramids and the Sphinx. There are also similarities between the discovered skull and the design of the Sphinx. This 45-million-year-old find is among the most significant discoveries in understanding the evolution of ancient predatory animals in Egypt.
