Netanyahu's stance on October 7 probe

The issue of the October 7 attacks in Israel is witnessing growing calls for an independent investigation, with civil society demanding the formation of a neutral committee to determine the causes of failure and assign responsibility. Following the resignation of senior military leaders and the defense minister, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu refuses to establish an independent governmental investigation committee, preferring a political committee whose members he chooses, a move opposed by opponents due to its lack of independence. The opponents accuse Netanyahu of shirking responsibility and neglecting to prevent the attacks, while he blames the security establishment and tends to hold it partly responsible.
