Britain puts three Iranians on trial for espionage

Britain accuses three Iranians of spying on opposition journalists in the UK on behalf of Iranian intelligence, with the aim of targeting them as punishment for criticizing the Iranian regime. The charges include monitoring journalists from Iran International between August 2024 and March 2025, and attempting to carry out potential attacks against them. The defendants, Manish and Nouri, stated that they were unaware that their actions were part of intelligence activities, while Sepehvand admitted to knowing about it, claiming he was threatened into doing so. This trial comes amid escalating tensions between Britain and Iran, with the UK accusing Iran of targeting opponents both inside and outside Iran.
