Makkah Pact begins mutual defense

The "Mecca Pact" mutual defense agreement between Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan was implemented immediately, aiming to enhance regional security and deterrence in response to threats facing Saudi Arabia. The three countries held a meeting in Riyadh after signing the agreement in August and announced the initiation of troop deployment and military capabilities in Saudi Arabia, with retired Pakistani General Numan Mahmood appointed as Secretary-General of the alliance for a three-year term. The emphasis was on the countries' commitment to collective defense and improving readiness to confront threats, while condemning the attempted targeting of Mecca and Medina, as well as ongoing attacks on civilian and economic facilities in Saudi Arabia.
