AU Replies to Egypt Over Ethiopia Crisis

The article focused on the statement issued by the African Union Commission aimed at calming tensions between Egypt, Ethiopia, and Eritrea, particularly in the context of the diplomatic crisis surrounding the Horn of Africa region and the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam. The Commission clarified that it did not intend to blame any specific country but called for restraint to maintain regional peace and stability, amid escalating rhetoric and diplomatic tension among the three nations. This tension was fueled by Ethiopia’s expulsion of an Egyptian diplomat and mutual statements concerning support for armed factions. The timing coincided with a summit in Egypt to discuss regional developments, where both Egypt and Ethiopia emphasized the importance of implementing diplomatic measures to prevent further escalation.
