The article focused on the resumption of the Israeli army's activities in the "Sufa 53" project in the Syrian Quneitra countryside. This military engineering project began implementation in mid-2022 with the aim of creating an 8-meter-wide fortified road, earthen berms rising 5 meters high, observation points, and trenches along the buffer zone on the border with the occupied Golan Heights. After the fall of Bashar Assad's regime in December 2024, Israel intensified its work, controlling large areas of agricultural land and destroying the vegetation cover. The project intersects with Israel's "New East Project," which aims to strengthen the borders using trenches and earthen dams, and includes surveillance and security patrols. Israeli incursions into the area have led to clashes and exchanges of gunfire, amid Syrian demands for the withdrawal of forces to the original demarcation lines according to the 1974 agreement.
