Singer cancels Shanghai return over knee injury

Player Yannick Sinner, the world’s number one tennis player, announced the postponement of his return to the courts due to a right knee injury, which led to his withdrawal from the Shanghai Masters held from October 7 to 18. He has not competed since winning Wimbledon in July and has secured six titles in 2026 so far. The injury kept him from participating in North American tournaments. His absence increases the chances for his rival, Alexander Zverev, to top the world rankings, especially since Zverev can move up for the first time after winning titles in Beijing and Shanghai, whereas Sinner has more points to defend at the end of the season.
